PRESS  RELEASE

Redtwist announces the World Premiere of
Aura
By Tommy Lee Johnston

Monday, April 27, at 7pm
Directed by Jan Ellen Graves

The story of a pure soul, an eccentric man, who can see color auras surrounding others, revealing their vitality...or their imminent demise.
Enter Redtwist's world of wonder and see the colors of life revealed.

The Play
AURA is a probing exploration of how Mike, portrayed by company member and playwright, Tommy Lee Johnston, copes with knowledge that one should not even possess, let alone share. Precisely how does a thoughtful person live from day to day with a gift/curse such as this? With soul-wracking sensitivity. With mind-numbing thoughtfulness.

Veteran Chicago actor, Larry E. Wiley, takes the role of Earl, a still-young-and-vital senior, struggling with his wife's recent death. Earl meets Mike on his daily walk in the park, and Earl's world is forever transformed.

Mike also profoundly affects the lives of two other characters (played by one actress, Connie Anderko)--Amanda, a young mom, and Dr. Emily Wallace, a psychiatrist to whom Mike turns for help with his unique visions. Both women are very drawn to this kind and peculiar man with the unique gifts.

Company member, Jan Ellen Graves, who directed Redtwist's critically-acclaimed show, The American Clock, creates a world of wonder with her set design and direction.
